Australian small goods packaging design

Australian small goods packaging design has been intriguing me for a while now, i guess mainly because i just love buying and eating meat. Competition is strong on the retail shelves and packaging designs range from the premium blacks and gold’s to the traditional & country style designs, each design directed to a specific target market. Featured on many is the common trend to use fresh and vibrant images of food as the focal point of the design, the use of well presented fresh food images is to attract customers ever so small attention span when scanning the shelf and it also gives them and instant reassurance of quality and trust in the item they are buying.

One of my favorite packaging re-designs at the moment is the “Don” range of small goods. Their newly designed range of small goods packaging and their continual play on the original “is DON is good” brand has carried well across their new designs which can be easily identified on the shelf by the simple use of the butches blue apron lines, reds blues and whites and iconic Don character now brought to life across each pack. They really should bring back the old TV advertising campaign with an updated fresh new twist on it. Tibaldi’s logo design also resonates strong with me, the use of the shield design with its traditional Italian colours and intricate lettering I find visually indicates a touch of Italian class but still is modern and relevant to today’s market.
